Spring Forward with Spring Cleaning!

by Dave Logan

Longer days are here! Spring officially is only a week away. Time to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather. Time to get inside and start cleaning! Spring cleaning is necessary every year to make sure your house is getting the full cleaning it needs. Many of the cleaning requirements for your spring cleaning include areas that don’t get cleaned regularly throughout the year. We’ve put together a little “checklist” for you that includes the following. Since many hands make light work, recruit the whole family and knock it out on the weekend.

? Throw away, sell, or donate all the things in your home you’ve collected over the past year that you do not need or want anymore. Have a yard sale!

? Move all of your furniture and vacuum beneath it.

? Thoroughly scrub all your kitchen cabinets and appliances.

? Clean out your refrigerator and freezer and wipe them down with your choice all-purpose cleaner. ? Clean the backsplash behind the stove and/or sink.

? Clean your windows inside and out, including your drapes and window treatments.

? Dust all the corners and ceilings and get rid of cobwebs. ? Wash all baseboard, doors, window sills, and walls.

? Scrub the bathroom: showers, bathtubs, sinks, toilets, mirrors, and floors.

? Clean (dust) your ceiling fan blades and lighting.

Remember that spring cleaning also involves cleaning areas on the outside of your home, too. Clean out your garage, check your roof for any leaks or damage from the passing winter, remove dead foliage and weeds in preparation for the new spring growth, and start thinking about some exciting spring landscaping projects. If you just don’t have the time to put into the effort, consider hiring a cleaning professional to help you get the job done. There are few things around your home that are more satisfying than finishing your spring cleaning and creating a healthier, cleaner environment for your family. Yes, it takes some time, but you and yours are worth it!
