The Earlier Years
Dave Logan first became a name in the Denver community while attending Wheat Ridge High School, where his talent on the baseball field got him noticed by the MLB. In 1972, Dave was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds. However, Dave decided to forgo a career in professional baseball, choosing instead to play football and basketball at the University of Colorado Boulder. Success both on the gridiron and the hardwood had pro leagues once again calling his name four years later. This time, he was drafted in the NBA (Kansas City Kings) and the NFL (Cleveland Browns), joining Dave Winfield and Mickey McCarty as one of only three players ever drafted professionally in the MLB, NBA, and NFL.
The lure of the NFL proved to be too much and after hearing his name called in the 3rd round of the draft, Dave became a Cleveland Brown.
Professional Football Career
Dave played wide receiver for eight years with the Cleveland Browns, or the “Kardiac Kids,” as they came to be known for their late-game comeback wins that often sent Cleveland fans into a frenzy. The “Kardiac Kids” became such a phenomenon, that they were highlighted by Sports Illustrated in 1980, the year in which Dave appeared on the cover in his Browns jersey.
His determination made him a fan favorite, and his performance on the field vaulted him into the top five of virtually every receiving category in franchise history. In fact, Cleveland’s major newspaper, The Plain Dealer, named him one of the top 100 Browns draftees of all time.
In 1984, Dave ended his NFL career in the Mile High City with the Denver Broncos. By the end of his stint with the Broncos, his NFL career totals included 263 receptions for 4,250 yards, an excellent 16.2 yards per reception, and 24 touchdowns, during an era in which the run was dominant to the pass for the NFL offenses.

When Dave’s playing days ended, his love for football and his home state of Colorado did not. He embarked on a noteworthy broadcasting career, where he quickly rose to a position of great respect in his new field.
In 1990, he joined 50,000-watt powerhouse KOA, the five-decade radio station of the Broncos. Originally, Dave handled color commentary for the games from 1990 to 1995. In 1996, he did color commentary for home games and play-by-play for road games. He then moved into his now customary play-by-play chair in 1997, becoming known as “the voice of the Broncos.”
In 2019, Dave and KOA announced an agreement that would keep Dave in his play-by-play role for the Broncos for another 10 years. The 2022 football season marked Dave's 32nd year in the KOA broadcast booth and his 25th year as the play-by-play announcer for Broncos games.
Dave’s play-by-play broadcasting career makes him quite unique. Many ex-players have had jobs as color commentators, but he is one of just three, along with Jimmy Cefalo in Miami and Steve Raible in Seattle, who have ascended to the play-by-play chair for their respective broadcast teams.
From his rookie year with the Browns in 1976 through the 2022 season, Logan has been associated with the NFL as player and broadcaster for over 40 years, one of the longest such tenures in NFL history.
Another one of Dave’s professions is that of coach. Dave was raised in a loving home by parents who encouraged giving back, leading him to become a high school football coach. He has been a Colorado high school head coach from 1993 to the present, all years at the 5A level, which is the state’s highest classification.
As of the beginning of 2023, Dave has coached 30 years of high school football. He began coaching at Arvada West in 1993 and remained there through the 1997 season (winning the state title in 1997). From 2000 to 2002, Dave coached at Chatfield (winning the state title in 2001). In 2003, Dave moved to Mullen, where he remained coach until 2011 (winning four state titles in 2004, 2008, 2009, and 2010). Dave currently coaches at Cherry Creek, where he began in 2012 (winning state titles in 2014, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022).
Dave’s success as a high school coach is unprecedented, not only in Colorado, but also nationally. He is the only high school football coach in America to win 11 championships at four different schools, and he now has the most state titles of any coach in Colorado prep football history. Winning is in Dave’s blood. That’s why it’s no surprise he now resides in eight Halls of Fame.

Consumer Referral Specialist
In addition to being a former professional football player, broadcaster, and football coach, Dave is also a consumer referral specialist. Through his company, Team Dave Logan, he connects Coloradans with trusted local pros who they can feel comfortable having in their homes.
Team Dave Logan began in 2009 after Dave received a call from his mom, who was in need of a plumber. Though she had lived in the Denver area nearly half a decade, she didn’t know who to turn to for this home repair.
Dave wondered who he could trust to go into his mom’s home. He thought there should be a resource for discerning the ethics and professionalism of any business. It was through this realization and with the help of his friend and business partner at the time, Lori, that Team Dave Logan was born. More than a decade later, Dave and his team are still connecting consumers with vetted service providers that meet the highest standard of excellence.
