We hired Van Matre Construction eight years ago to build an addition to our home. Brady and his crew provided excellent service. Each day the crew was prompt and did good work. There were no cost overruns. Naturally, we have called this company again when we had other items that required their type of service.

We did a major reno starting in 10/10 through 3/11, of a 50's bungalow. We touched every room in the house as well as adding on a significant amount of square footage to the kitchen (and what is now a family room below it). We re-sided the house - it was wood siding - with stucco. As we had access to the wiring, we redid that as well. Added insulation, new windows, doors, etc to the original house. Basically, try to upgrade everything that we could get access to. Our intent is to stay in the house, not flip it. We used a friend (who's an architect) and recommended Brady. We were very pleased with his work and his approach. The only downside was our naivete in how many decisions we'd have to make and how fast we had to make them. We kind of "glazed over" as Brady was getting stuff done quickly, and as a result, needed said decisions to proceed apace. I've heard horror stories re: other contractors disappearing during jobs. This was not Brady's MO, quite the opposite. They were asking if they could work weekends. It has been 3 years since completion and we have had only a couple of minor issues with the work. There are some issues in general with the reno, but most of them are on our side - we could have made some better decisions regarding placement of electrical switches, etc. The usual "shoulda, woulda, coulda" stuff. I'm an engineer so I notice those kind of things more than most.

I recently completed building a house with Van Matre Construction and I was very happy with every aspect of their performance over the 14 months it took to complete. The house was a spec house with lots of architectural details inside and out. During the bidding/pricing process he worked with our architect to improve the project with several important "value" suggestions. The project was bid out to several contractors and Van Matre was clearly the best value. We entered into a fixed price contract during a period of escalating prices, and very tight availability of labor. The project was completed for that price. We did have several change orders, which were truly "changes", those change orders were priced very fairly. I never got the feeling he was "sticking it to us" on the change orders; an experience I've had before. Working with Brady and our Superintendent was very easy. They were very diligent, and followed through with questions very quickly. The quality of work was outstanding. All of the employees and sub-contractors were very professional and courteous. They kept a clean and neat job site. The few quality issues that came up were taken care of with no arguments or drama. After the project was finished we did have a small punch list. The items were mostly small finish items that were quickly dealt with. Overall would I hire Van Matre Construction again? In a heartbeat!! He made this challenging project fun and easy.

Our request for the Van Matre Company was to design and build an attached sunroom to replace a deck that was worn out and seldom used. We wanted a space that we would actually use at least 9 months of the year. Brady showed us some pictures of a room that he had built previously and we incorporated some of those ideas into the drawings. During the early phases it was obvious that he and his people were dedicated to building the room that WE wanted and they worked with us to design a terrific sunroom. During construction, their work was outstanding. They were punctual. They always left the site in excellent condition. They always put in a full days work, and then some. They completed the work on time and on budget, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. In fact, the room is so well insulated that we use it year round.

Van Matre construction is amazing! We have interviewed and used many contractors in the past - but none of them compare to Brady's crew. He is the most professional contractor in the business. They popped the top on our house and the entire experience was great. Since then we have used Van Matre for all our of other contracting needs - which has been two additional projects on our house that were bigger than I wanted to take one (taking out an outside wall an hot tube enclosure, and installing a new fence and gates to replace one that was falling down). The project is done on time and on budget. Brady is always there to check and make sure that the project is done the way you want it to be done, and will always make sure you are happy. For instance, in this last fence install - there were 3 posts that were poured that were not square with the rest of the fence as one of the crew had made a mistake. Brady didn't try to hide it, but instead agreed that the posts were off, and had his crew jackhammer and remove the posts, then re-pour them so they were right. I'm not sure many contractors would have done that! I can't recommend Van Matre construction high enough!

As an architect, I have worked with many General Contractors on both residential and commercial projects. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of choosing your Contractor carefully. Do not choose one just because they have the lowest bid. I believe that you get what you pay for. The lowest bid is not always high quality work, and high quality work is not usually the lowest bid. Having said this, I would highly recommend Van Matre Construction, LLC for building your house. They provide professional services and quality construction, at a fair price. I have completed several successful projects with Van Matre Construction, LLC over the past 12 years. I am always pleased to find out that they have been selected as the General Contractor on a project, as I know that the job will be done correctly, professionally, on budget, and on time…..resulting in satisfied Clients and a successfully completed project. Brady Van Matre and his team at Van Matre Construction built a custom house for our family in 2008 and 2009. The team did an excellent job keeping the project on schedule. After discovering a foundation issue with our house and garage, we conducted a search for an appropriate company to make the repairs. With due consideration, we decided on hiring Van Matre Construction to make the repairs. The repairs involved installing helical piers along 3 walls and braces on one wall in the basement. In addition to repairing the foundation, we also decided to install a foundation drain and sump pump. As you can see, the scope of work was quite extensive. Prior to the start of the project, Brady and Ulises (project manager) came out to the house and did a walk through to go over what would be done and discuss any last minute issues. This was much appreciated and alleviated any concerns that we had. The project started just prior to Thanksgiving and lasted until the second week of December, approximately 3 weeks. The crew consisted of Adam (the lead), Mike and JJ. Throughout this period of time, all three demonstrated exceptional knowledge, professionalism and courtesy while they did their work. If my wife or I had a question, it was not a problem to ask any of them the question. On several instances, I interrupted Adam while he operated the backhoe or front end loader and he immediately stopped what he was doing, climbed down from the equipment and clearly answered my question(s). He even indicated that he welcomed questions or inquiries so that the customer clearly understood what was taking place. I (the writer) strongly encourage you to ask questions if there is an aspect that you don't understand. Also, while work was being conducted, Brady and Ulises came out to the house to check on the progress of the work and answer questions or resolve issues that may have come up. Needless to say, the work started, progressed and was completed within the stated contract timeframe and cost estimate. All work was completed in a high quality manner. At the end of each day, the crew cleaned up the worksite trying to leave it in a spotless manner. Pretty hard to do when there was mud on the driveway but this was cleaned up. Any punch list items were taken care of on the spot. We were very pleased with the outcome of this project and this is directly related to work ethic of Brady, Ulises, Adam, Mike and JJ. This company is highly recommended without reservation. If we need services like these in the future we would rehire them. They'll do you not just a good job but a superb job.

We were having some settling issues and though we might need some helical piers so we called Brady out to take a look. He checked out our crawlspace and foundation and looked at some minor cracks. After his inspection, he told us that the settling was very minor and and jokingly said he could sell us some piers, but recommended we try to get some drainage issues taken care of and unless the minor crack in the wall ( which I had patched) doesn't come back we should not worry about it. That is the kind of honesty and integrity that convinced me that if I ever needed foundation work I would call him. I am an avid supporter of people who treat me right and that is why I wanted to take time to write this review.

Brady helped me and my husband on our fix and flip with an extensive crawl space repair project. His pricing was competitive and his crew did excellent job with engineers certification at the end. As a Realtor I will keep Van Matre Construction on my list of professionals to "go to" for structural issues.

The contractors were the best. They showed up when they were supposed to, kept the site as secure and clean as possible and dealt with he surprises of rehab work as well as anyone could. Even change orders were dealt with fairly and professionally.

Approximately 4 years after finishing the project, 200 stair treads failed. They started crumbling and deteriorating at a fast rate, causing the stairs to be unsafe. Brady and his crew warrantied the replacement of the stairs, at his cost. All treads were replaced timely and professionally. We are thankful to Brady and his crew for their hard work and honest workmanship. You can trust Brady Van Matre. He stands behind his workmanship and provides excellent service. We recommend him very highly.

They are currently doing the project. We have been strongly involved with the entire process. Their general quality workmanship is very high. Their scheduling and completing the schedule a little below optimal like one step down. The value for dollar seems to be very good. We are generally very happy with what had happen. The cost was the first thing to choose them. They seemed to be willing to work with us. They were not a design house; but they were willing to work with us on us kind of do the design and they kind of finish it out. They then just bring it to reality. They were very accommodating to changes as the project started. They estimated $30000 for the job.

They came out and completed the task in about half a day. They were professional, clean and punctual. The grinding caused a little dust inside the home but that was to be expected. Happy with the outcome.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience. When our home flooded, I thought I had hit bottom. I was devastated to then learn that in addition to drainage, we needed foundation repairs. Brady Van Matre and his crew were fantastic. I wish I had 10 guys like Adam and Michael working for me. Very conscientious about my construction concerns and keeping the job-site clean. Fit my job into their schedule even after the scope of the project tripled in size after they had already started. Very happy and I'm not easy to please.

Brady came out and took a look at the issues I was having and he gave me great advice on how to deal with the situation that didn't require an expensive fix. Most other providers would have pushed me to a solution that may not have fixed the issue. Very professional, was on time, and responsive. When I do have an issue, it's clear that this company is ethical and I will use them for the service.

Thanks to everyone being very aware of what work needed to be done, everything went very smoothly. They knew I was leaving on a trip Dec. 31st, so everything was completed before that & in a timely manner. I appreciated very much how willing they were to work with me to make it happen, even setting up sprinklers under a new sidewalk to 2 spruce trees. I would definitely hire this construction company again to do more work should I need it! They are fair, reasonable, & work well with clients.

Brady and his team were extremely professional, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for construction services. Brady had excellent communication, and he was able to get us in on a tight schedule. We needed a sump pit and pump installed prior to listing our home, and they worked with us to schedule an exact date for the work. When the job ended up being tougher than expected, they handled the setback professionally and stayed late into the evening so that we could still have showings the following day. They fixed the foundation, sealed inside and out, and left the work area far better than when they arrived. The estimate of time, cost of repairs, and result were spot on. I would recommend them to anyone. The reason I gave them Responsiveness and punctuality is because they got called off to help jobs that needed immediate attention. I did not really mind (someone else might be perturbed). But I can't give them "A". However, they did complete the job before the deadline.

I am a "flat-lander" from Michigan looking to move to CO. I was considering a mountain property outside Golden and wanted to get a ball-park estimate of construction costs and issues related to building in the mountains. Brady came out next day and spent 90 minutes with me for no-charge! His website convinced me to call him. His actions convinced me to use him when I am ready to build.

Van Matre Construction recently repaired a substantial crack in my foundation wall. I received several competitive bids, but chose VMC because of their positive reviews and the agreeable meetings I had with the owner, Brady, and his project manager. They completed the job on time, on budget, and the rest of his staff was a pleasure to work with as well.

They did a lot of work on our new home, including repair to the foundation, correction of problems with the drainage on our property, and several remodeling projects. The cost was very reasonable. We are so grateful to Brady and his team! An engineer friend recommended him, and I'm so glad he did. Brady's quote was reasonable, but not the very lowest. After a bit of talking through the project with him, it became clear that he would do a more thorough job and fix the problem correctly the first time. We couldn't be happier with the result. Van Matre Construction recently repaired some major damage in my foundation. The guys who did the work were very professional and very nice about my little dogs. I couldn't have asked for a better crew and they left my basement cleaner than it was before they came. Thanks a lot Guys!!

These guys were awesome! The job took several months, but the result was so cool looking, even the other contractors on site commented on it. It was not an easy issue they were dealing with. I own an historic house in Boulder, built in 1903, whose entire corner, including the foundation, had begun to slide down a hill--by something like a couple of feet. They were able to dig underneath the house and pour new footings, then cut out window and door openings into a degrading stone wall and finally lift the house by several inches. And, it looks fabulous! Oh! Also, they stayed within budget--no "change orders." I would recommend them in. a heartbeat!

Van Matre was truly outstanding from start to finish. Brady gave us an honest assessment of our situation and a number of reasonable options to choose from. He taught us a lot about foundations and spent lots of time with us as we tweaked and tuned the plan.

They were able to get us on their schedule fairly quickly, and they finished the job in about a week, which I thought was amazing. Willis, who led the crew, was super nice. He recognized our interest in the details of what they were working on, and kept us informed the whole way through.

Joel, Wheelz and Adam were awesome too. They cranked through the work and left our finished basement just as clean as they found it.

We hired them to reinforce the foundation where a few years before some tunnels had been dug through the soil under the footings to put in some new pipes. This is an old brick house and the footings are several widths of brick laid directly on the soil, not concrete. The reinforcement is to pour some concrete walls under the footings to support them and to stabilize the soil walls of the tunnels. They also poured concrete to stabilize another area where soil had been eroding under the footing. We also had them remove an unused brick planter next to the wall.

The estimator, Lance Heimes, did a very thorough study of the area and then carefully described to us the recommended work. Because of his attention to detail and good explanations I had a lot of confidence in his recommendations. The work went smoothly and looks good upon completion.

The weak point with this company was communication. I had to call them up to find out when the work was scheduled, and even then we were never sure when the workers would show up. They also sent me the final invoice for the work when the work was only about half-done, rather than upon "substantial completion" as provided in the contract. They did finish the work a day or two later, so it worked out OK, although for a while I was worried that they had forgotten to finish the work.

I worked with Chris to set up some foundation and masonry repairs, which were performed by Mike, Alex, and Ricky. They did an amazing job--prompt, professional, and skilled work for a fair price. Highly recommend.
