Programming your thermostat can help you save money year-round.
For example, program your thermostat to 65 degrees during the day in the winter and then have it kick in during the evening hours to 72 degrees and then back down when you go to sleep.
Seals
An unproperly sealed window can let out valuable warm air in the winter and let in the hot air in the summer. Make sure all the seals around your windows, doors and outlets are secure.
A good quality caulk can easily fix any leaks.
Check Your Filter
Be sure you have a clean filter in your furnace or fan. A dirty filter will force your unit to work extra hard, costing you extra money.
Remove Debris
Make sure the area around your unit outside is clear of any debris.
Clean the Humidifier
It is a good idea to clean your humidifier at the start of every winter. Your owner’s manual should have instructions on how to do so.
