There are several ways to maintain your water heater.
First, check the temperature! Some water heaters come from the factory with the temperature set higher than you actually need. A setting of 120 degrees should provide comfortable hot water for your family.
Secondly, check to make sure that your natural gas or oil hot-water storage tank is insulated. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for insulating your hot water heaters and be careful to not cover the top, bottom, the thermostat or the burner compartment.
